How to select the right car lighting?

The first thing you need to know regarding the lamps’selection is to get acquainted with their characteristics. Some socles for automotive bulbs are suitable for dipper-beam headlights, and the rest are necessary for rear or front lights. Some shine bright and the rest have yellowish tinge. The choice of luminaires should start by specifying their usage and also the type, brand and model of car.

According to the place they will be used there are different caps for:

•  front lights - H1, H2, H4, H7, H9, H11, H15, HB3, HB4 (halogen); D2S, D2R, D1R (xenon);
•  spot lights - P21W, P21W, W5W, R5W;
•  rear lights: P21W, P21/5W;
•  side lights: W5W, R5W;
•  marker lights - R5W, P21/5W, W5W, C5W.

Each of these sources work under voltage of 12V.

What should we comply with when choosing?

Choosing the right lighting is especially important during the autumn-winter season. Of course, this is due to the earlier twilight, and the shorter part of the day light, increasing the need to drive after sunset. The quality of brightness is very important for the comfort and safety on the road and that is why we must have in mind some details.

Currently the ordinary vehicle incandescent lamps remain popular. Characteristic for them is the yellowish glow and the very long service life.

Other more practical and probably the most popular nowadays are the halogen lights. Compared to the first type they have more service life and brighter colours. Also worth to note is the appearance of led bulbs.

Often used are also the xenon headlights that offer significant benefits in terms of security. Unlike ordinary analogues, xenon bulbs don’t have a glower but work on the basis of a chemical reaction between specific gas and electricity. They are economical, bright and work continuously.
